The Codemasters DiRT Rally Team was a competitor in the 2021 FIA Junior WRC Championship.
The team's goal was to win the title and secure the prize of a fully-funded WRC2 drive in the 2022 FIA World Rally Championship, while also strengthening Codemasters' connection between sim racing and real-world motorsport ahead of its WRC partnership in 2023.
Codemasters game designer Jon Armstrong was the car's driver, with Phil Hall as co-driver in the M-Sport Poland Ford Fiesta Rally4. In addition to competing in professional rally events, Jon's real-world experience feeds back into Codemasters' development of rally games.
My role within the team was to provide social media support, by sharing the crew's progress on the DiRT Rally (now known as EA SPORTS WRC) social media channels, while also supporting Jon and Phil behind the scenes to help secure further sponsorship.
Photography was supplied by M-Sport and graphics by Keane Design. The car and livery are available to drive in EA SPORTS WRC.
Jon and Phil finished the season in second place, narrowly missing out on the title in the final round.
The team scored 3 podiums in 5 events, winning at Croatia Rally and Ypres Rally Belgium.
All work shown here was produced while under full-time employment at Codemasters and remains the sole property of Electronic Arts, who acquired Codemasters in 2021.
